MART is proud to support the presentation of Theatre of Dreams by Hofesh Shechter Company at Holland Dance Festival for their 20th Jubilee
In his latest full-length creation, Hofesh Shechter immerses you in a compelling world where reality and fantasy blend seamlessly.
With the raw physical power and complexity of his unmistakable dance language, Shechter and his dancers take the audience on a rollercoaster ride through the subconscious – a space filled with desire, fear, hope, and chaotic emotion. Out of this whirlwind emerges an unexpected clarity, as if dreams and reality briefly touch.
The dancers bring this interplay between poetry and reality to life, accompanied by live musicians and Shechter’s signature, cinematic soundscore. For this new work, Shechter reunites with lighting designer Tom Visser, who crafts a sculptural dreamscape on stage through his powerful scenography.
Following its world premiere at Théâtre de la Ville in Paris (2024) and UK premiere at Sadler’s Wells this autumn, Theatre of Dreams will tour leading stages across Europe – including Holland Dance Festival in The Hague, Utrecht, and Tilburg. Further tours will follow in Italy, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, and Germany.
For this ambitious new production, Shechter once again collaborates with his trusted creative team: Tom Visser (lighting design – known for Grand Finale, The Fix, Contemporary Dance 2.0, Wild Poetry, and From England with Love) and Osnat Kelner (costume design – Contemporary Dance 2.0, Wild Poetry). Together, they shape a universe that feels both hallucinatory and deeply intimate.
