MART presents the second round of Research and Development for a new creation, Carnage and The Divine (working title), by one of the most celebrated choreographers in international dance — Akram Khan
In April, MART team spent time in London working on our new project, Carnage and The Divine (working title), with the incredible choreographer Akram Khan and Olga Smirnova, Prima Ballerina with the Dutch National Ballet. During this part of the rehearsal process, Akram has been creating a solo for Olga for the production.
Carnage and The Divine is Akram Khan’s first full-length duet specifically for classical ballet dancers, inspired by an Indian epic, seen through a contemporary lens, and reflecting on the ominous presence of AI in the near future. The work will premiere in 2026 — stay tuned to get updates first!
